Thursday 11 March – Thursday 29 April 2021

The Polyphonic Concert Club presents a series of online concerts featuring:

Jennifer Pike – 11 March
Colin Currie Quartet – 18 March
I Fagiolini – 25 March
Red Priest – 1 April
Castalian String Quartet – 8 April
Isata Kanneh-Mason – 15 April

Isata Kanneh-Mason was in the Piano Final of BBC Young Musician 2014 and held the prestigious Elton John Scholarship at The Royal Academy. Her debut album, Romance, drew popular and critical acclaim, entering the UK classical charts at No. 1 when it was released and leading Gramophone magazine to extol the recording as “one of the most charming and engaging debuts”.

Since her studies with Joanna MacGregor and Carole Presland at London’s Royal Academy of Music, Isata Kanneh-Mason has embarked on a successful and increasingly busy concert career as a solo artist, with concerto appearances, solo recitals and chamber concerts throughout the UK and abroad.

Isata presents a personal and poignant programme, including music from her No.1 debut album, Romance, and Russian modernist Sofia Gubaidulina’s extraordinary tour de force, Chaccone.

The concert has been recorded as part of a collective response by artists, venues and a film company to the restrictions on live performance. The Polyphonic Concert Club offers members a chance to support music-making at the very highest level. The beautifully filmed online chamber recitals include a percussion quartet, violinist and vocal group, performing music from Byrd and Bach to Steve Reich.

The club’s first season features six concerts that have been recorded at independent venues across the UK including The Stoller Hall, St George’s Bristol and The National Centre for Early Music in York.

The Polyphonic Concert Club is a direct response to the decimation of live music caused by the global Coronavirus pandemic.
