Image Down For The Count Orchestra: Golden Age of Swing

The 30-piece Down for the Count Orchestra and vocalists present a “sonic ride back to the sounds of Capitol Studios in the 1950s” (DownBeat Magazine) as they play timeless songs from the Golden Age of Swing music.

Expect to hear the music of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Peggy Lee and many more brought back to life by some of the UK’s top jazz musicians and arrangers. The orchestra preserve and protect the musical heritage of these great artists – but this is no mere nostalgia trip, as Down for the Count perform each song in their own unmistakeable style, breathing new life into the best vintage music

You’ll hear recreations of hits such as Come Rain or Come Shine (Arlen & Mercer/Judy Garland), You Make Me Feel So Young (Myrow & Gordon/Frank Sinatra), All The Things You Are (Kern & Hammerstein/Ella Fitzgerald) alongside original arrangements of jazz standards written by the orchestra’s principal conductor Mike Paul-Smith.
