Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra are proud to present it’s first-ever fully virtual concert.
Students at Chetham’s School of Music have been working remotely, throughout lockdown, as the school has continued to develop some of the UK’s finest young musicians, aged 8-18.
Created in an unprecedented way for unprecedented times, this broadcast is brought to you by Chetham’s as the culmination of several months of remote learning.
A new form of orchestral experience, each musical part has been recorded remotely by socially distanced musicians, in homes spread around the world, across five time zones, then mixed together for audiences to enjoy at home.
This performance is an uplifting, positive reflection on the experience of Chetham’s students during lockdown.
The concert will feature a student led recording of the Overture to Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, a brand new work for socially distanced saxophone choir, Quincy Jones’ Soul Bossa Nova, recorded by some of the youngest string players from the school, and two specially commissioned works for full symphony orchestra; Beat the Curve by composers from Chetham’s and Suite for Chetham’s by the award winning composer and conductor Anthony Weeden.
Pre-book in advance to receive your live stream link. The recording will stay live via the link for seven days, from 7.30pm on Friday 3 July.
