She gets it and I think rhythmically she was just streets ahead, in terms of connecting with the groove of the music and trying to swing. It was beautiful.” – Julian Joseph on Jazz Line Up, Radio 3

Since being crowned the winner of the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016, Alexandra Ridout has rocketed on to the international stage, featuring in numerous bands performing across Europe, including Tom Ridout’s ‘No Excuses’ Band, Mathew Herbert’s Brexit Big Band, Clare Teal’s Mini Big Band, Guy Barker’s Big Band, The Alex Hitchcock Quintet, Yazz Ahmed’s Polyhymnia, Paul Booth’s Quintet and The Calum Gourlay Big band, ECM artist Kit Downes and world renowned drummers Jason Brown and James Maddren. Later this year she will be touring Europe with the Grammy nominated & Blue Note signed all-star band Artemis; performing in Köln with award winning pianist Pablo Held; and will be performing at Dave Douglas’ 2022 Festival of New Trumpet Music in NYC.

Having recently moved to New York City to undertake postgraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music, Alexandra has formed a new trio featuring NYC based Norwegian guitarist Iver Cardas, and long-term collaborator UK based American bassist Will Sach. This concert will be one of the first performances from this exciting new group, digging deep into some of their favourite Jazz musicians’ music as well as presenting their own fresh compositions.

This concert is supported by Arts Council England’s Supporting Grassroots Live Music Fund and Forsyths Pianos.
