Join us for this one-off performance by Chetham’s Big Band, with very special guests Mike Lovatt and Danny Marsden, performing pieces from Billy May’s iconic 1958 album Big Fat Brass.
Mike Lovatt is a virtuoso trumpeter, recording artist, sought after teacher and musical director. Based in the UK, but internationally recognized, he is Principal Trumpet of the Grammy nominated John Wilson Orchestra, the BBC Big Band, Superbrass, Andrew Cottee’s Dreamtown Orchestra and has featured as soloist on many film scores including most recently Marvel’s ‘Avengers Endgame’ and the Judy Garland Bio Pic ‘Judy’.
Danny Marsden has played trumpet with everyone from Glen Miller Orchestra and Sid Lawrence Orchestra to Moscow State Symphony, Birmingham Royal Ballet and BBC Concert Orchestra to pop artists such as The Spice Girls and Gary Barlow, not to mention performances in multiple major West End musicals.
Lovatt and Marsden will perform alongside the jazz and brass stars of the future in Chetham’s Big Band, for a unique livestream concert from The Stoller Hall at Chetham’s.
