With a reputation as a fearlessly unpredictable pianist and composer, Matthew Bourne is a passionate explorer of sound, possessed of a burning desire to make music on anything old, broken or infirm. Bourne continues the NQ Jazz series of film nights at The Yard with an improvised score to the 1920 silent film, ‘Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde’.
The film stars John Barrymore and is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s late Victorian novella, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The film centres around a doctor’s ill-fated attempts to separate the ‘dual personalities’ of good and evil that he suspects are present within all people. The film has been recognised in two American Film Institute top 100 lists, and has a 92% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
In partnership with NQ Jazz and The Yard.
