“…a fine set of shanties sung by a crew of women. It’s a fresh fair wind and a steer by the stars that takes an entirely different look at a great heritage – and makes a thoroughly good job of it” – Folkwords

“She Shanties, have marked their spot as the premier a capella women’s shanty group in the world.” – Jack Gonzo

In one of the unlikeliest developments of 2021, sea shanties are bigger today than they have been since the age of sail, helped largely by songs being shared on TikTok.

Continuing the trend, we’re welcoming Manchester’s sea shanty crew to The Stoller Hall stage for a special performance. She Shanties formed in 2011 through their mutual love of singing shanties and they haven’t stopped, performing at festivals across the UK and Europe.

The all female shanty group stand-out with their northern accents and their unembellished and clean sound. Their singing style lets the lyrics stand centre stage and their subjects feel accessible, the songs are nurtured and emotionally loaded.
