The Down for the Count Concert Orchestra
Mike Paul-Smith Conductor
plus vocalists to be announced
The 30-piece Down for the Count Orchestra and vocalists present a “sonic ride back to the sounds of Capitol Studios in the 1950s” (DownBeat Magazine) as they play timeless classics from The Great American Songbook.
Expect to hear hits such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Frank Sinatra), Stardust (Nat ‘King’ Cole), ‘S Wonderful (Ella Fitzgerald) and many more in a joyful celebration of some of the best music of the 20th Century.
The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra is one of the UK’s most highly-regarded vintage ensembles, having sold out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The London Jazz Festival, Cadogan Hall, and many other prestigious venues. One of the only “big bands with strings” in the UK, the Orchestra preserve and protect the musical heritage of these unforgettable songs, whilst also looking to the future by presenting original arrangements of classic standards written by members of the orchestra – many of which appear on the Orchestra’s new album, and which will be performed at the show.
