Zara Benyounes and Jeremy Young – Haworth Masterclass

Following the lunchtime recital, Zara Benyounes will lead a public masterclass with students from Chetham’s School of Music’s String Department. These talented youngsters will have the opportunity to perform to their peers and members of the public and receive coaching on their interpretation of some of the major violin works.

Zara is the first violinist and founding member of the prize-winning Benyounes Quartet with whom she has performed and recorded for over 14 years to critical acclaim. A regular leader of the Chineke! Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble, Zara lead the orchestra at the 2021 BBC Proms.

Further experience as a chamber musician has led to working alongside internationally renowned artists such as Tai Murray, Awadagin Pratt, Nicky Spence, Tim Ridout and Julian Bliss. She plays on a beautiful 1682 Nicolo Amati kindly made available to her from the Boucher Trust. 

London born pianist Jeremy Young has a distinguished performing, composing and teaching career that has gained him a reputation as one of Europe’s most respected and versatile musicians. He is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, Head of Chamber Music at the Royal Northern College of Music and teacher of Piano and Chamber Music at Chetham’s School of Music.  

A founder member of the Manchester Piano Trio, Jeremy has also partnered many of the worlds most distinguished musicians including Olivier Charlier, Mark Padmore, Julian Bliss, Liwei Qin, Mengla Huang, Peter Cropper, Roderick Williams, Thomas Riebl and Karine Georgian.
