Part of BBC Radio 3 Manchester Week 2022
Monday 24 – Friday 28 January 2022

Tenor Alessandro Fisher teams up with pianist Kunal Lahiry to form a new performance powerhouse.

Alessandro is a previous BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist and a joint winner at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards in 2016 and his career has included appearances at the Royal Opera House, the Salzburg Festival and English Touring Opera. Indian-American artist Kunal Lahiry began playing the piano aged 10, making his orchestral début at the age of 17 with the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra. His interest in song interpretation has led to concerts around the world.

As a pianist, Kunal Lahiry spends a significant amount of time practicing and performing but he says one of the most valuable skills he learned along the way was how to play with others; “Sharing what I find so special about music with others is exciting and deeply touching.”

Exploring the theme of Sounds of Nature, the duo will captivate audiences with their Year in Song recital. You can learn more about this in our interview with Alessandro here.
