Carole Nash HallReturning to Manchester for 2024 - the much-loved fairy tale, but not quite as you know it… Join us for...
On the 13th of March 2023, three different sets of young musicians will showcase their talents live on The Stoller Hall stage, in memory of the late Charlotte Norton, generous supporter of Manchester Chamber Concerts Society.
You can book tickets to the 2024 Charlotte Norton concert (Monday 4 March 2024) here.
We will be joined by…
1) Chetham’s School of Music’s Dunbar Quartet performing Mendelssohn Quartet in F minor Op. 80
2) Northern Reeds performing Marc Mellits’ Splinter & Schumann’s Waldszenen (arr. Raaf Hekkema)
3) Odora trio performing Saint Saens’ Piano trio No. 2 in E minor
Northern Reeds are the UK’s first established reed quintet, founded in 2019 by five RNCM graduates. They are the winners of the Royal Philharmonic Society Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award 2022, RNCM Fawkes Prize 2022, the June Emerson Wind Music Launchpad Prize 2022, and the RNCM Christopher Roland Prize Audience Vote 2022.
The Odora Trio was formed in 2017 at the Royal Academy of Music. The trio has performed widely throughout London and the UK with major performances including recitals for the National Trust and broadcasts for BBC Radio. They were prize winners at the Isaacs and Pirani piano competition at the Royal Academy in 2017 & the Harold Craxton Chamber Music Competition at The Royal Academy in 2020.
The Dunbar Quartet from Chetham’s School of Music are a string quartet made up of students between Years 11 and 12. They will perform Mendelssohn’s highly dramatic and emotionally charged Quartet in F minor, written by Mendelssohn in 1847 and seen by many as a response to his sisters death. It was the last major work he completed before his own death 2 months later.
This performance is free for all Manchester Chamber Concerts Society season ticket holders.
