‘I Musicanti embodies the universally cherished ideal of total artistic freedom and unrestrained self-expression, and it aims to provide a home to creative and imaginative artists who share the ambition of realising this dream’ – Leon Bosch
We’re delighted to welcome The Manchester Chamber Concerts Society back to The Stoller Hall for a new season of concerts, beginning with this special performance. Founded in 1936, this is the start of The Manchester Chamber Concerts Society’s 85th season in Manchester – and the first full season to be based at The Stoller Hall. As well as tickets being available for individual Manchester Chamber Concerts Society events, a 30% discount will be automatically applied if you purchase the full season. Explore the Autumn Season here.
A mixed instrument chamber ensemble, I Musicanti comprises some of the most experienced and respected musicians to be found in the UK, hand picked by the group’s artistic director, international double bass virtuoso Leon Bosch. Under Bosch’s direction, I Musicanti comes together to present distinctive programmes with a particular emphasis on music that has been lost and found or simply overlooked: great works by unknown composers and unknown works by great composers.
Although the musicians of I Musicanti are all soloists in their own right, the group also collaborates with international performers of the highest calibre. For their Stoller Hall debut, they’re joined by the famous British pianist Martin Roscoe. A regular on BBC Radio 3, with over 600 broadcasts and seven BBC Proms appearances, Martin’s extensive repertoire and immediate audience connection mean he is in great demand as a concerto soloist, chamber musician and recitalist. Martin is also the Artistic Director of The Manchester Chamber Concerts Society.
The programme includes Khym’s arrangement of Beethoven’s Horn Sonata in F major, an arrangement of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in G major by Lachner, as well as Vaughan Williams’ Piano Quintet in C minor.
