Pianist Murray McLachlan will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday year with a spectacular challenge!
Between 1795 and 1822 Beethoven wrote 32 piano sonatas, although he never intended them to be seen as a whole, they’re regarded as the “New Testament” of piano literature and one of the most important collections of works in the history of music.
Murray’s recital takes us through Beethoven’s early and mid career, culminating in his final sonata, No. 32 in C minor.
Murray McLachlan is Head of Keyboard at Chetham’s School of Music as well as Artistic Director of Chetham’s International Piano Summer School. He has received critical acclaim for intelligent and sensitive interpretations and his superb technical ability, appearing as soloist with most of the leading UK orchestras.
