RenzNiro with Live Ensemble + SALO + Lenacha
Age Restriction: 18 +
As the first commissioned work by The Emerald Planet, in collaboration with Bothy, RenzNiro has been working with composer Carmel Smickersgill to create a classical rendition of his music, which will be performed by a live ensemble together with RenzNiro himself. This performance will be his debut headline show.
RenzNiro is a multidisciplinary artist and producer from Manchester, England. Traversing themes of hope, betrayal, belief, and deceit, he delivers razor-sharp aphorisms with confidence and clarity over subversive, electric, grime-adjacent instrumentals. Since releasing his first full-length project See Me, See Trouble in 2022, RenzNiro has released four further projects and nine singles, performed across the UK and Europe in venues such as the Barbican, Reference Point, The White Hotel, SOUP and Ormside Projects, and collaborated with critically acclaimed artists including Space Afrika, Rainy Miller, and Lauren Duffus.
SALO is a Manchester-based artist, producer, vocalist, and DJ with a dual creative identity. On one side, she crafts emotionally rich soul and jazz records inspired by Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, and her Georgian roots. On the other, she’s a powerhouse in the UK jungle and DnB scene – bringing smoky vocals, gritty energy, and heavy sets to some of the country’s biggest stages. Born in Tbilisi and classically trained in piano, SALO’s range is unmatched – whether she’s behind the decks or composing late-night ballads on the keys. For this performance, she will be on the piano presenting new work – a special occasion to experience a different side of her artistry.
Lenacha is a songwriter, composer, and producer from Greater Manchester. In her latest work, she draws on a wide range of influences within an electronic and minimal framework. Her music blends textured soundscapes, intimate melodies, and cyclical rhythms through her guitar playing, creating an atmosphere that feels both ethereal and grounded. Influenced by experimental electronica, 70s-style compositions such as psychedelic folk, jazz fusion, and progressive rock, as well as soul and alternative R&B, Lenacha explores themes of longing, transformation, and inner dialogue. Each piece invites listeners into a reflective space where vulnerability and strength exist side by side.
Bothy is a Manchester-based organisation. It supports classical musicians outside of mainstream institutions by offering rehearsal space, helping artists organise and promote their own events, and working with promoters to include classical music in their programmes.
Carmel Smickersgill is an Ivor Novello-nominated composer and performer. She has written for ensembles such as Liverpool Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Buxton International Opera Festival and works as a theatre composer and sound designer across the UK and Europe.
