Part of BBC Radio 3 Manchester Week 2022
Monday 24 – Friday 28 January 2022

Mithraism was a popular religion during the Roman Empire, featuring bold, striking iconography. In Sanskrit, the word Mitra also means ‘friend’ or ‘friendship’.

This feels like an appropriate namesake for chamber ensemble, Mithras Trio, who as BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists are fast growing a reputation as one of the next generation’s most exciting piano trios. The trio includes Chetham’s School of Music alumnus, pianist Dominic Degavino, alongside Ionel Manciu and Leo Popplewell.

They will perform a delightful programme of chamber music featuring Mozart, Helen Grime and Fauré piano trios, for their Stoller Hall debut. Read the behind the scenes interview here.
