Bloody hell that was good!” Tom McKinney, BBC Radio 3 Presenter

Winner of the 2018 BASCA British Composer Award for Solo or Duo

To coincide with the record release on nonclassical, Dominic Murcott is pleased to present The Harmonic Canon, his British Composer Award winning composition featuring one half-tonne double bell, an array of unusual metal percussion and two virtuosic percussionists.

As much a visual spectacle as a musical experience, The Harmonic Canon explores the distinctive sonic identity of a computer-designed, half-tonne double bell of the same name.

From high energy, gamelan-inspired rhythms, to meditative, continuously shifting tones, come and witness this unique project that blurs the lines between music, sonic art and sculpture.

Completing the programme will be a new work by emerging composer Heather Stephenson that – in stark contrast to the rest of the programme – explores the intimate acoustic and textual possibilities of small, handheld percussion.

With special thanks to our sponsors Bell Percussion.

In memory of A.C. Knight.
