Between Monday 14 – Wednesday 23 August, Chetham’s International Piano Summer School brings world class and legendary musicians to a vibrant, supportive community in central Manchester. Alongside lectures, open lessons and opportunities to develop new skills, you can discover a daily programme of recitals from world-class performers.
Khrystyna Mykhailichenko is an eighteen year old Ukrainian pianist who was born in Crimea. She began to play the piano when she was only four. The variety of piano repertoire Khrystyna has played during the last 7 years is up to 10 recital programmes including: Beethoven’s “Hammerklavier” and Brahms’s op.118, Chopin’s op.10, op.25 Rachmaninov’s First Sonata and Third Concerto
In 2014 when the Russian Federation occupied Crimea, Khrystyna moved to Irpin, near Kyiv with her mother and father, her elder brother and younger sister. She studied at Kyiv State Music Lyceum until 2022.
At the outbreak of war in February 2022, she fled to Poland with her mother and sister before settling in the UK in June. As well as continuing to travel extensively for performances, she is also studying at the Royal Northern College of Musicwith Professor Graham Scott.
