The artistry of Boris Berman is well known to the audiences across six continents. His highly acclaimed performances have included appearances with leading orchestras worldwide and in major festivals and recital series. Boris Berman opens the Striking Gold piano series, marking the golden jubilee year of Chetham’s School of Music. His programme begins with Haydn’s final group of sonatas, a lifetime’s musical experience distilled into three works composed in London in 1794–1795. Berman is one of the foremost authorities on the works of Sergei Prokofiev, and his deep appreciation of the composer’s style and creativity comes to the fore in his second half performance of two cherished pieces from the mid 20th century.
