We finish up the day with a special solo recital from baritone and composer Roderick Williams, exploring songs of travel and journeying in a programme including well-loved lieder by Vaughan Williams, Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Schubert. The theme for the performance will bring the day’s events together into a programme packed full of songs in English and German relating to the theme of travel.

Baritone and composer Roderick Williams was a choral scholar at Oxford’s Magdalen College before becoming a music teacher. At the age of 28 he returned to studying and performing music with London’s Guildhall School of Music. Now an established singer of opera, concert and recital, he has performed in some of the world’s most notable ensembles including all the BBC orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic.

In 2017 Roderick was awarded an OBE for his services to music and his career has taken him around the world performing and recording with the greatest musicians.
