Opera North: Cinderella
Carole Nash HallReturning to Manchester for 2024 - the much-loved fairy tale, but not quite as you know it… Join us for...
More than 2000 ships have foundered and sunk on the Goodwin Sands, a perilous 10-mile sandbar that lies six miles off the Kent coast.
Voices of the Sands is a dramatic music recital featuring three voices and a harp, revealing mythical stories of those who have travelled there across the centuries, as well as evoking voices of seals and birds for whom Goodwin Sands is a place of refuge.
Drawing on sea shanties, folktales, and found text, Voices of the Sands is as multitudinous and shifting as the sandbar itself, providing an acoustic anthology of this haunting place.
Voices of the Sands’ is kindly supported by Arts Council England, PRS Foundation’s Open Fund for Individuals, The Marchus Trust, and the RVW Trust. Development of this work was supported by a Wild Plum Arts Artists Residency.
