Mark Tanner is Composer in Residence for the second week of the Piano Series. In addition to a busy career as pianist, teacher and adjudicator, Mark has built a presence with Spartan Press, having published nearly forty albums of original music and a piano-friendly edition of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book. Two piano pieces from his popular Eye-Tunes series are currently on the London College of Music syllabus for grades 6 and 7.
Mark’s two concerts will feature a wide selection of his popular piano pieces, many of which are performed regularly around the world in exams, festivals and competitions. A variety of illustrious pianists, including the McLachlan family, course tutors and participants, will perform a spectrum of Mark’s colourful and witty creations. These will include Pieces of Eight, a work for eight hands on one piano premiered recently at Wigmore Hall. In addition, there will be music for cello, flute and piano played by the Poznansky-Tanner Trio, including a dazzling new work, which will receive its world premiere in The Stoller Hall.
